The reduction and prevention of oedema in the hand and upper extremity is an essential objective for optimal healing and mobility. Stimulation of the lymphatic system mobilises oedema and swelling away from the extremities. The application of pressure bandages and compression garments also helps to reduce oedema and prevent its return.
